47 Rebel Without A Cause: John "Plato" Crawford

OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. FORTY-SEVEN. FORTY-SEVEN PLATO ICONS. CLEARLY I AM INSANE.

Yeah, so, these are all of the character John "Plato" Crawford from the 1955 film Rebel Without A Cause. Um, he's the little gay kid. Played by Sal Mineo, who, though only sixteen at the time, was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance. And who, at the moment, I'm kind of... madly, desperately, hopelessly in love with, in case you couldn't tell by the billions of posts about him in my personal journal & the fact that I MADE FORTY-SEVEN GODDAMN ICONS OF THE SAME CHARACTER. And when I describe my love for Sal as "hopeless," it's a bit of an understatement, given the fact that he's dead. And, before that, gay. But hey, that's never stopped me before.

Obviously there are other important people in this movie, namely James Dean, who everybody just loves cuz he's James Dean & blaaah blah blah. Though, for the record, I love him too, I think he's just peachy. But you know? Overkill. (Pardon the tasteless pun.) So when I first started this set I was like, "JAMES DEAN IS NOT ALLOWED TO BE IN ANY OF THESE ICONS!" But then I got over it. Because you can't have the slashiness without Jim, & I do actually love James Dean a lot. (And if you think I am being ridiculous by making Jim/Plato slash icons, you obviously have not seen this film. GAYEST MOVIE EVER.) I even allowed Natalie Wood to show up in some of them, though for the record I HATE NATALIE WOOD & HER CHARACTER JUDY RUINS THE WHOLE DAMN MOVIE & THE ONLY REASON SHE EVEN GOT THE PART WAS CUZ SHE WAS SLEEPING WITH THE DIRECTOR SO THERE. But yeah. My point (& I do have one) is that a lot of these do include the other two members of the little Rebel family, but the one thing they all have in common is Plato. Darling, beautiful, broken little Plato. (I may be just a leeeeeetle obsessed...)

BTW: I did kind of try to really up the ante with these, meaning I really did the best I could & didn't save anything I didn't think was up to par. So even if you're not interested in the subject, I would still like to hear your comments/criticisms on the quality/style of these. Thank you very much & please enjoy your meal.

AND THEN THE MOVIE ENDS & EVERYTHING'S FINE & NOBODY GETS SHOT OR ANYTHING. AND THEY ALL LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER. EXCEPT JUDY. SHE TURNS OUT TO BE A COMMUNIST. AND JOE McCARTHY EATS HER OR SOMETHING. WHAT THE HELL I NEED TO GO TO BED.
